Broad Reach Sailing is a small friendly Royal Yacht Association (RYA) recognised Sailing School, based in Gosport Marina just a few minutes from the Solent. Established in 2008, we have now successfully taught over 1000 sailing students across the wide range of RYA sailing courses we run.
We pride ourselves on making sure everyone has a great time during their time with us. Our yacht “Aurora” is a Jeanneau 36i and is well equipped and very comfortable. We have heating for when its chilly and top quality Musto foul weather kit to keep you warm and dry.
All meals are provided and our home-cooked Shepherds pie, Lasagna and Chicken Curry are favourites with our sailing crews!! If you would like to see more of “Aurora” check out our gallery on Instagram.
Our team are all Yachtmaster Instructors and are able to cover all aspects of sailing and all RYA practical sailing courses. They are both patient and understanding and will ensure you get the most from your sailing course. They will give you feedback throughout your course and will be more than happy to answer your questions and go over any part of the course until you are happy.

Great summer cruise
Excellent 7 days on the summer cruise, visiting various ports along the south coast then over to Alderney and Cherbourg. As a coastal skipper it is always excellent experience to sail with other of similar skills and although it’s not a training week there is always something to learn, and Simon is always willing to explain anything you want to know. The other crew on board were all excellent and we got on well as we all share the same passion for sailing. Although the weather made it challenging at times being on the water in a F8, it was great to be with Simon with his wealth of sailing knowledge and the yacht keeping us and the yacht safe. One of the highlights was being accompanied by a pod of dolphins for and hour or so mid channel. Excellent experience all round even when the going was less than smooth! Thanks to everyone on board!

Competent crew training
Excellent 5 day experience sailing in the Solent. Based out of Gosport our instructor Nick was very knowledgeable and helpful in all aspects of operating the yacht. Even in windy and unnerving conditions the crew felt safe.

Fabulous!!
This is a fabulous Sailing School! With Broad Reach so far I’ve passed my Coastal Skipper, YM Coastal and recently my YM Offshore. Not to mention various training weekends and a Channel crossing. Quality training, a great boat to sail and the foods not bad! Anyone thinking of starting sailing or progressing their sailing skills, you won’t go wrong using Broad Reach.

Just completed my dayskipper course with Broadreach sailing. Was very nervous at first but the instructor Nick soon made us all feel calm and engaged in the process. It turned out to be a fantastic week. The instruction was brilliant and comprehensive. The food was delicious. The other crew were lovely and the boat was a joy to sail. I can’t recommend this company highly enough.

Second time with Broad Reach
I did my Competent Crew course with Tony at Broad Reach last summer and, as someone completely new to sailing, found Tony to be a a kind and knowledgeable instructor. I was nervous when I first got on the boat and he did all he could to make the course enjoyable for me. Fast forward a year and some more miles under my belt, I went back to do my Day Skipper. Tony was very thorough with his teaching and also tailors the course to the students' needs and interests. We visited different places around the Solent - Cowes, Hamble, Beaulieu, Newtown Creek, Yarmouth- which makes for a nice holiday too. The yacht is comfortable and well maintained and the food is excellent! I'd really recommend Broad Reach and hope to be back for my Coastal Skipper soon.

Brilliant experience and training
Brilliant Training given then on YM Prep week amazing Tuition by Nick Wright. Incredible amount of sailing and learning , top tips and shared experience . Highly recommended prep week and course. Superb training aboard a fabulous yacht. Previously passed Coastal skipper with Broad Reach. Decided to do YachtMaster. Very impressed with the training and preparation for a tough exam. Excellent food and facilities on board.

Super Week!!!!!!
Spent a great 5 days aboard Aurora doing my Day Skipper. Skipper Tony was super friendly and helpful making us feel at home straight away! I would highly recommend sailing with Broad Reach!
